EventsIn keeping with the basic concern of Dr. Otto Buchinger that “Fasting is beneficial to the body but the soul often hungers”, we offer you a rich cultural programme, thereby contributing to the special atmosphere which distinguishes a stay here at Buchinger Bodensee. Fasting people are sensitive and particularly susceptible to external stimuli, and they do not only respond physically to these stimuli. Music, the visual arts and literature, therefore, play a vital supportive role at Buchinger. Every Sunday we host a live concert with pianists, chamber music ensembles, or even orchestras. On the programme you will find classical music as well as jazz.
We take care in having original and not fake works of modern art in our public rooms as well as in our guest apartments. A special feature is the work of the Düsseldorf artist Lothar Baumgarten, “The Big Lawn” on a wall in the Villa Belgrano.
Additionally, we further the artistic abilities of our patients and guests. Artists and art therapists offer painting courses; pictures that you visualised while you were in a phase of deep relaxation, and which you can paint and interpret with the help of a psychotherapist.
We also offer literary evenings, lectures, readings by poets, even theatre performances as part of our programme. We are very proud that internationally distinguished writers such as Max Frisch, Heinrich Böll (a Nobel Prize for Literature Laureate), the Peruvian Mario Vargas Llosa have been here as patients, together with Martin Walser, Erich Loest, Gert Riess, Siegfried Unseld, Hans Hollmann; Heidemarie Hatheyer, Hellmuth Karasek and Eva Dempski. They have all been at Buchinger as guest speakers and readers.
Other, very popular, events on our cultural programme are slide shows, dancing and singing, the presentation of selected films and moderated discussions. It is especially important at these supplementary events that guests interact with each other and communicate on their experiences, in addition to absorbing the art, music and literature. |
